Spring shoot with a DASH of snow!

Today was my first shoot of 2010! Karen is a friend of mine that I used to work with and now lives in Arkansas. She wanted a spring photo shoot done while she was on spring break. Today was beautiful and about 64 so we didnt let a little snow,mud, or a few attacking geese stand in our way of getting some great spring photos. Here is just a preview. I must say I shot some great ones considering the circumstances. I just live for catching moments like these:

Winter is not my favorite time of year because there are not as many chances to capture photos like I would prefer BUT...... today brought on some random chances for me to get a few cool photos. It usually takes a ton of crappy photos to get a few really cool ones so here are my a couple of my favorites from today! I cannot believe I actually got these shots! Winter brings alot of mysterious views.

School is calling.......

Well I am back to the thought of school again....and heres why: Going to an art focused school has always interested me. Before I went back to longview cc a couple of years ago I  really wanted to go to the Kansas City Art Institute until I found out that it is about 12,000 a semester. eeeeeeeek i know! I went back to longview and took a few more classes but then I got bored...The second time around I did it the correct way and finished out the semester and didnt sign up for any classes the next. I really believe I can do the basic stuff on my own so I didn't really see school helping me much but alot of  time has passed since then and I have set more goals and dreams for myself. I want to strive to be THE BEST there is out there and I WANT TO BE A FAMOUS NAME! I cannot do it without some good stuff under my belt and a photography degree. Whether or not i really need the degree is not the question. I WANT IT! I have already established that photography is my PURE PASSION in life.... the matter of this subject is where I want to go with it. I follow alot of photographers blogs and research them on a daily basis and I am in awe of all the things you can do with it. There are so many things i can see myself doing....High Fashion, travel photography, working for Island Magazine or any magazine for that matter, Celebrity photo shoots, Weddings, my own studio, freelance. So now I am looking into the Art Institues International Kansas City. I have an appointment next monday to talk with an admissions advisor. Its not as expensive as KCAI but it is costly! If I am able to get enough grants or loans and it seems to work for me I am JUMPING at this opportunity...I need something else to work hard at and keep me busy while Ryan continues to work out of town! Maybe even one day I will be living in California or New York and be that FAMOUS NAME you hear on tv! WISH ME LUCK!

My best friends big birthday PROPOSAL!

I've known Danielle since junior high and am very thankful we have stayed friends since then. I love her to death. I've known bobby since they got together two years ago and have had alot of fun with them. Well Danielle turned twenty five yesterday and got the best birthday surprise of her life! AN ENGAGEMENT RING! Bobby wanted all of their friends there to witness it and I was lucky enough to also catch a few great pictures of it! Congrats you two. I love you and wish you nothing but the best!

Second shooting my first wedding!

My friend Kristin has been a self taught pro photographer for 5 years. I met her when i took a few beginner photography classes at longview. She now lives in california but sure has left her wonderful name around this city. When she asked me If I wanted to second shoot a wedding with her I jumped with a quickness at the opportunity! I was instantly excited because I just knew that it would be a great learning experience and would probably open alot more doors for me. Wedding photography is my dream. I am in love with the love that two people share on their wedding day. It brings me much joy. This past saturday I was able to share The Meeks wedding day and capture some great photos that I am pretty proud of. Here are some of my favorites! ENJOY! Thanks again Kristin Joy Photography!
